Salesforce Forward Deployment Engineer

Contract Remote in United States or Canada Posted 1 day ago

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Salesforce, you will operate at the frontlines of enterprise AI adoption. You are a hybrid full-stack engineer, data architect, and technical strategist embedded directly inside the engineering organizations of our largest and most complex global customers.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between initial AI vision and battle-tested production systems. You will design, build, and scale autonomous AI agents using Agentforce and Data Cloud, integrating them deeply into customer enterprise data infrastructure, third-party vendor APIs via Model Context Protocol (MCP), and real-time security and compliance gateways.

What You’ll Do

1. Production Engineering & Agent Orchestration

Design and deploy autonomous multi-agent workflows using Agentforce, building custom Apex, Python, and JavaScript/Node.js actions to extend native platform capabilities.

Implement production-grade Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, grounding LLM decisions in structured enterprise systems and unstructured data lakes.

Build, maintain, and secure MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and middleware proxies to connect agents safely to third-party data providers, internal APIs, and legacy systems.

2. Architecture & Data Federation

Architect Zero-Copy data federation strategies between Salesforce Data Cloud and external data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, AWS Redshift).

Implement identity-bound OAuth 2.0 auth flows across API endpoints to ensure agent tool calls enforce user-level permissions and vendor licensing compliance.

Configure streaming and batch data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and harmonize high-volume telemetric and operational data.

3. Governance, Security & Telemetry

Deploy OpenTelemetry tracing and immutable audit logging pipelines across all agent turns, recording inputs, prompts, context chunks, tool executions, and latency metrics.

Implement real-time security guardrails, context sanitization, and automated PII/MNPI redaction layers at the prompt gateway level.

Design multi-tenant, hub-and-spoke deployment models for parent organizations managing isolated workloads across portfolio companies or subsidiaries.

4. Client Partnership & Product Feedback Loop

Serve as the core technical authority in small, high-velocity "deployment pods" alongside a Deployment Strategist, directly partnering with customer CTOs, Enterprise Architects, and Engineering Leads.

Translate complex business requirements and domain logic into technical specifications, API schemas, and production code.

Serve as the direct liaison back to Salesforce Core Product & Engineering teams—funneling edge cases, bug fixes, and feature requests straight from live enterprise production systems.

What We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in Python, Java, C#, or modern JavaScript/TypeScript.

3+ years of technical delivery experience within the Salesforce ecosystem, including deep fluency in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL, Streaming API).

2+ years of experience working with enterprise data platforms (Salesforce Data Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar) and SQL query optimization.

Practical experience building LLM-backed applications, agentic workflows, prompt templates, and tool-calling interfaces (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic Claude API).

Strong foundational understanding of authentication, web security standards, and identity protocols (OAuth 2.0, SAML, PKCE, API keys).

Demonstrated ability to write production code while interfacing directly with senior enterprise client stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in high-security, highly regulated industries (Financial Services, Healthcare, Government, or Defense).

Hands-on experience implementing or extending the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for deploying sidecars, proxies, or telemetry agents.

Experience with enterprise observability tools (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, New Relic) and OpenTelemetry standards.

Preferred Salesforce certifications: Data Cloud Consultant, Salesforce AI Associate/Specialist, System/Application Architect.
